Middle School Coding Classes are more conceptual, faster pace than Elementary School Coding Classes
Students ages 12-14 are beginning to understand and process abstractions. Their typing skills also enables them to access a variety of programming languages that coding professionals use. Beginner students are introduced to and focuses while all continuing to build up the core concepts and foundations in programming.
Our Python Coding for Middle School program is rigorous but beginner friendly. Designed for students who want a solid foundation in computer science, each class covers one core concept of coding. Interwoven into coding concept lessons are projects to build games and applications they design and build themselves.
Python is a pre-req for our mobile app, AI and other advanced courses.
For those interested in creating computer games, we offer Roblox Class and Javascript Class that builds up to a final game product at the end of the course.
Roblox Classes are also based on project-based learning. The curriculum is similar to the Javascript Gaming class, except at the end of the semester, the students build different games and worlds, all with code in Lua. They will also gain skills in designing and manipulating items and objects in 3D.
Javascript Classes are based on project-based learning. Students take a whole 8-week semester to create an elaborate video game. Each lesson builds on the previous lesson and in the end the students have a full game with their own custom characters, enemies and surprises.
Scratch Junior
Scratch Junior is designed to introduce coding to children ages 5 and above. Students get their own iPad to develop games, music, art and animation.
