Capstone Projects
Ages 14-18
Looking for an unique coding experience?
Penguin Coding School offers high school students (and advanced middle school students), an individualized coding capstone program which culminates in the delivery of a mobile app, website or a data science project that reflects the student's interest or passion.
With the popularity of the computer science exploding, taking coding courses in high school is no longer enough. Students applying to competitive colleges and STEM internships have to show that they have applied their coding knowledge to building an interesting project.
Open to students with little to no background in coding, we match each student 1-1 with coding mentors who can guide them through the study of necessary coding and data science skills to complete their desired project.
In addition to coding skills, students will learn project and time management, breaking up tasks into modular components, and utilizing user feedback loops to continually improve their project.
After signing up for our Capstone program, we will start with a 1-1 consultation with the student to assess:
1) Current coding knowledge
2) Time commitment for pre-summer and during summer
3) Desired deliverable/project
Given the 3 points above, we will design a realistic plan for pre-summer work and level of commitment needed during the summer to execute the plan for student/parent sign off. The Capstone Project is offered to a limited number of qualified students who must be willing to devote the necessary time and effort needed to complete their project.
