Competition Robotics
Penguin Coding School has been coaching competition robotics teams since 2017. We field multiple teams every year and a few of our top teams have made it to the state championships. Our Cobble Hill location participates in First Lego League (FLL) for ages 9-12 which uses Lego Robot kits to complete mission challenges and research an innovative solution to a global problem .
What is First Lego League?
First Lego League (FLL) is organized by a global non-profit called FIRST. Kids ages 9-12 participate in a season that spans 4-6 months where they build a fully autonomous Lego robot to solve various mission challenges, research an innovative solution to a global problem, and demonstrate teamwork and gracious professionalism.
Available to all skill levels and no pre-requisites, the season runs from September to December with teams made up of 4-6 students. We are open to coaching pre-existing teams or groups of friends if scheduling allows.
At the end of the season, there is a Regional Tournament in one of many cities in New York that the teams will get to participate in. The all-day tournament is a great experience for our students to see excited students from all over the state compete and have fun.
FLL Course Offerings
Exact schedule & team composition for FLL teams will be decided in September. We offer Lego Robotics classes that students can take in the Spring that will help students prepare and gain knowledge in Lego Robotics, as well as during our weeklong Summer day sessions.
