Robotics Competition Teams New York

FLL at Penguin
Penguin Coding School has been sponsoring and mentoring First Lego League (FLL) teams since 2017. Several of our teams have moved on to the State Championship round every year and have won numerous team awards. Our approach always puts the kids first. We make sure that every team member experiences the full curriculum which includes robot design, robot challenge strategy, coding, and the Innovation Project.

What is First Lego League?
Every year, First Lego League sponsors a global team competition that presents teams of 2 to 10 students, ages 9 to 14, with a themed challenge that is part LEGO Robotics and part science project, also known as the Innovation Project. The season generally lasts from September to December with one state winning team moving on to a tournament in the spring.
What about the Innovation Project?
First Lego League has a Innovation Project component where each team comes up with an "innovation" and give a 5 minute presentation on that subject to a panel of judges at the tournament. From the simplest presentation with a poster board, to a full presentation with mock demo samples and a customer survey, teams put varying degrees of effort into it, but everyone gets first hand experience at giving a live presentation to the panel of judges.
