First Lego League (FLL) is organized by a global non-profit called FIRST.  Hundreds of thousands of kids ages 9-14 participate in a season that spans 4-6 months where they build a fully autonomous Lego robot to solve various mission challenges, research an innovative solution to a global problem, and demonstrate teamwork and gracious professionalism.

Penguin Coding School has been mentoring FLL teams since 2017.  Every year several of our teams move on to the State Championship round and many win team awards in Robot Design, Innovation Project and Core Values.  Our approach always puts the kids first.  We ensure that every team member experiences the full curriculum which includes building the robot, coding the solution, and research for the Innovation Project.

In the 2023 season taht started in August, we coached teams from Lexington, Newton and Acton.  Some had previous experience, but many were brand new to FLL.  The teams went to various Regional Qualifier matches in Shrewsbury, Foxboro, and Worcester.  4 Teams (Banana Merangues, Titanium, Mechanical Monkeys & Motor Codes) qualified for the State Tournament this year at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Most importantly, all the teams had a great time building Lego robots and attachments that solved various missions, working on a innovation project together with the team, and learning how to work with each other.

Here are some pictures from our 2023 Season!
